Figure D06: Antigen-Specific IgM Antibody Response (PFOA)

Antigen-specific IgM antibody response (PFOA):
  • All data are primary (after a single challenge) IgM antibody data.
  • Hu (2010) data [in blue] are from mice exposed during development; all other data from adult exposures.
  • Loveless (2008) data [in green] are from rats; all other data are from mice.
  • On set of animals in DeWitt (2015) [in orange] were immunized with DNP and the animals in Vetvicka (2013) [in orange] were immunized with TNP, and therefore represent T-cell independent responses; all other animals represent a T-cell dependent response and were immunized with SRBC or HRBC.
  • NOTE: Yang (2002b) dose reported as %Diet all other studies reported as mg/kg-day
  • NOTE:Yang (2006) antibody data not included because antibody data reported in Table 4 are identical to data in Table 1 Yang (2002b).
  • NOTE: Vetvicka (2013) ovalbumin-specific (OVA) antibody data not included. Study reported suppression of OVA-specific antibodies in female mice (20mg/kg PFOA via gavage for 3 weeks); however, exposure compared to positive control (OVA+Freund's adjuvant), not against vehicle control. Antibodies measured by ELISA -unknown if antibodies were IgM or IgG.

DISPLAY NOTE
  • Black Line separates antibody measurement methods: 1)ELISA to measure circulating antibody titres or levels in most studies from 2)PFC (plaque-forming cell) assay to count antibody secreting cells in a single study Yang (2002b)
  • Red symbols are reported as statistically significant
