Figure D09: Antigen-Specific IgG Antibody Response (PFOS)

Antigen-specific IgG antibody response (PFOS):
  • Antibody data include both primary (after a single challenge) and secondary (challenge and booster) IgG response.
  • Antibody data presented as circulating antibody titres or levels (measured by ELISA) or hemagglutination.
  • Peden-Adams (2009) data [in blue] are from chickens exposed during development; all other data from adult exposures.
  • Peden-Adams (2009) IgM + IgY data is measure of combined agglutination response with both antibodies and avian IgY is analogous to mammalian IgG.
  • Lefebvre (2008) data [green] are from rats; Peden-Adams (2009) data are from chickens; all other data from mice.
  • Lefebvre (2008) animals were immunized with KLH; all other animals were immunized with SRBC or HRBC.
  • Vetvicka (2013) ovalbumin-specific (OVA) antibody data not included. Study reported suppression of OVA-specific antibodies in female mice (20mg/kg PFOS via gavage for 3 weeks); however, exposure compared to positive control (OVA+Freund's adjuvant), not against vehicle control. Antibodies measured by ELISA -unknown if antibodies were IgM or IgG.
  • DISPLAY NOTES
    • Orange Line separates antibody data measuring IgG 1)primary response (after single challenge) from 2)secondary response (challenge + booster).
    • Black Line separates antibody measurement methods: 1)ELISA to measure circulating antibody titres or levels in most studies from 2)hemagglutination or concentration at which antibodies cross link antigens
    • Red symbols are reported as statistically significant
