Figure D-01a. Spontaneous abortion: ratio analyses

Spontaneous abortion associated with occupational exposure to cancer chemotherapy agents associated for studies reporting odds ratios. Number of cases for Valanis et al. (1999) include the spouses of exposed male employees; however, the data graphed are pregnancy outcomes of exposed female employees. Two studies were not graphed:, McDonald et al. (1988) reported that oncology nurses handling cancer chemotherapy agents had similar rates of spontaneous abortion compared to control subjects (observed versus expected ratio = 0.97) and Schaumburg (1990; 1990a, in text) observed no spontaneous abortions among 8 pregnancies of exposed pharmacy assistants. Abbreviations: aOR=adjusted odds ratio, CI=confidence interval, n=number, OR=odds ratio, and SAB=spontaneous abortions.
